DRAFTING OF THE PROJECT AND EXECUTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION WORK FOR A SPORTS CENTRE AND GYMNASIUM IN SANT FRUITÓS DE BAGES

The main sustainable construction, durability, and maintenance criteria that we have used while designing the building solution are as follows:

  • Comprehensive strategy to reduce energy demand (heating and cooling), water costs, and CO2 emissions associated with the use of the building by using cellular polycarbonate, assisted natural ventilation and Canadian wells, radiation reduction with the placement of canopies in the most exposed south and southwest orientations, recasting the glazed elements and calculating their impact through sunlight studies, and the installation of solar panels.
  • Industrialization and sustainable materials.
  • Durability, maintenance, and protection.

The installation systems chosen are as follows:

  1. DHW heating and cooling production system: As a centralized heating and cooling and DHW system, we propose using covered cooling units of the heat pump type for distributing cold water for air conditioning, hot water for heating, and producing domestic hot water.

A stratified accumulation system will be installed as the primary unit with a closed-circuit operation (Energy Hub Accumulator).

For ventilation and air treatment in more demanding conditions, air treatment units (ATU) will be installed. Likewise, variable-frequency drives will be installed in the fans of the ATU, which will adjust air flow rates to actual ventilation demands.

  1. Grey water system: In terms of water savings, we are proposing a grey water recovery system.
  2. Lighting system: We propose to do the general lighting with adjustable LED technology using a DALI 2 system of point-to-point control, which is integrated within the building management system.
  3. Fire safety system: Due to the size of the facility, the premises will be equipped with fire hydrants, portable fire extinguishers, outdoor hydrants, an alarm system, a detection system, signage for fire protection systems, and emergency lighting.
  4. Security systems: Considering the activities that will be held at the facilities, we propose safeguarding the perimeter with door opening and glass breakage detectors, motion detectors, and a surveillance system based on closed circuit television to guarantee security for the building.

Building control and management system: The building will have a comprehensive remote management system in order to comply not only with the basic requirements of the energy guidelines, but also so energy and control actions are done automatically and not reliant on people. The system will facilitate the remote management of energy and maintenance for the building.
