RENOVATION OF THE PALAU MARIANAO IN SANT BOI DE LLOBREGAT

October del 2022

Urban architectural heritage. The palace is a large, stately building from the late nineteenth century, composed of two buildings with an L-shaped floor that form an interior courtyard. The main building consists of a ground floor and two floors, with two ground floor towers and three floors, while the back is only a ground floor.
The ground floor presents an entire series of doors and windows, rectangular in the main building, with an acute pointed arch on the side of the towers and a half-point and segmental arch at the back. This floor has been plastered by imitating ashlar in the openings and corners, along with artificial stone plinths. The first floor features a continuous balcony in the main building and individual balconies on the sides of the towers, supported by corbels. The balcony doors are topped by eaves on sculpted pedestals. The family crest is inscribed on the first floor of the watchtower. The second floor is constituted by an entire series of small round arch windows. In the towers, the windows are Gothic in style on the second floor and mullioned on the top floor. The entire edifice is topped by merlons, which give the palace a horizontal and castle-like style with marked influences from the Catalan Neo-Gothic revival. The building also features a chapel.
